Many of our brothers and sisters in Christ do not have access to clean water and suffer from the lack of this basic necessity. Support the efforts of those working towards greater accessibility of this essential resource.
We take it for granted that we have access to clean water. Donate to Catholic Relief Services to help build wells for water for those in need.
Fast from bottled water.
Fast from soda pop; drink water instead.
We need politicians “genuinely disturbed by the state of society, the people, the lives of the poor!”
Support clean water policies to ensure that there will be clean water for future generations.
Make an effort not to waste water. Remembering to turn off the water faucet when you are brushing your teeth or washing dishes can help, especially in regions suffering from drought.
Contribute to the effort to preserve clean, fresh water: for example, by using environmentally friendly laundry detergents or by trying to be moderate in the amount of water you put on your lawn.
REFLECT AND FOLLOW-UP: The work of mercy isn't finished when the activity ends. Spend time in prayer, reflecting on where you saw and experienced the love and mercy of Christ. If you did an activity with a group, follow-up with others in that group and share insights or observations. This is a chance to grow in faith - and mercy! - together.
